Frequently Asked Questions (packing list at bottom)

Please reach us at kokomeretravel@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No worries. While you can join in and help if you like, your friendly camp crew will strive to have your tents up and waiting for you when you arrive at camp. We will give you warm cloths to wipe away the dust as we put a cool drink in your hand, and you find a comfortable spot to rest while we prepare your lunch or dinner.

The required documents vary depending on your destination and citizenship. However, most international travel requires a valid passport and potentially a visa.

Absolutely. This trip is your trip! We can add one or two nights at a lodge or simply make your trip a Lodge to Lodge experience. We will be glad to help you choose for the best combination of experiences

While we will have emergency communication available, you typically aren't going to be able to use your phone in these remote wilderness locations. On occasion, we will try to set you up a hotspot so you can check in at home and send a picture or so. But unplug the best you can! We are going to be totally off the grid, so you'll be charging cameras and phones in the vehicles during the day as we drive. We will be using solar camp lights at night

*A soft-sided bag such as a duffle is preferable. Medium wheeled bag and a small backpack is fine. If planning on on using bush planes, there is a strict weight limit. Please check.

*Sunglasses and sunhat

*A warm jacket and hat for chilly mornings a puffy or fleece. please wear neutral clothing . Do not wear camo . Layering recommended, as evenings and mornings can be chilly and midday can be quite warm

*Closed toe comfortable footwear. You won't need hiking boots.

Your camera and chargers, a battery bank. The game viewer has a USB and a c port At each seat.

*Binoculars or monocular, especially for birds

*Alcoholic beverages beyond what we serve on sundowners and at dinner. There are several liquor stores in town if you require anything specific. Just let us know and we can make a stop after picking you up.

*Sunscreen, lip balm

*Neck gaiter. Makes good sun protection but also used to cover your face if the roads are excessively dusty.

*Any medications you routinely take or you may need, things like Advil, Motrin, Pepto-Bismol or Imodium. Cold medication in case you catch something on the plane coming over. We have a small first aid kit but it never hurts to have a few Band-Aids with you.
*Your malarone or other antimalarial medications. Be sure to start them 2 to 3 days in advance of departure, and take on a full stomach to avoid GI upset.
*Refillable water bottle

*Eye drops. You're going to be riding in an open vehicle and your eyes can get dry in that African Sun.

*You may bring mosquito repellent. I find the wipes easy to pack .We typically will have it on hand. I always bring it and never need it but it's nice to have anyway.

*If you're going to Victoria Falls, bring the rain gear that fits into a small pocket. They will provide it there but you may want your own. You will get wet if you walk close to the falls, especially on the zambian side. Bring swimwear for The lodges.

*Torch/flashlight/headlamp

*Books if desired for down times

* I like to bring baby wipes or bath wipes on trips, a couple dozen in a small Ziploc. We supply towels and washcloths, soap and shampoo.

Bring a small bottle of hair conditioner if you need. Amazon actually has bars of conditioner that might be more convenient to pack.

*A few sheets of laundry detergent because you'll likely want to hand wash a few things. You can find a camping clothesline on Amazon that's pretty handy, has the clips pre-attached. Your housekeeping staff may offer to do laundry for a small fee but that might not always be available on every trip.
